Aarong: Flagship Store of the Worlds Largest NGO

Aarong is Brac’s fair trade store and has been selling products made by Bangladeshi artisans since the late seventies. Aarong has succeeded in giving talented artists in rural Bangladesh the opportunity to use their skills and sell their products at a fare price. When we visited there were a lot of people on every floor of the store. Aarong seemed to be a popular place for the well off Bangladeshi’s who can afford designer clothes.

Trying on a Lungi at Aarong

I took a few shots outside on the street outside. For me, the advertisements, movie posters and signs are all interesting when in a new place. Bangalink! The I’Top-up girl poster is all over Dhaka. It’s for adding minutes to your cell phone.
